About Dikkle

Dikkle is a search engine with its own crawler and its own index. Its name comes from the Hindi “dikh le”: take a look.

Today the index holds 0 pages from 0 sites, and it grows every day. When a search names a person, place, organisation or work that Wikipedia describes, Dikkle shows Wikipedia's article first, with key facts from Wikidata.

How results are ranked

Each result's score adds up a few open signals: how well the words match (BM25 over the title, description, text, address and the words other sites use when they link to the page), the site's authority (links between sites, blended with the open Tranco top-sites list), whether the title or the site name is what you typed, Wikipedia for what it describes, and freshness for news. No one can pay for a better place.

Use Dikkle in your browser

Most browsers find Dikkle on their own: after a search here, look for “Add Dikkle” in your browser's search settings. To add it by hand, use:

Search URL: https://dikkle.com/search?q=%s
Suggestions URL: https://dikkle.com/suggest?q=%s
OpenSearch file: https://dikkle.com/opensearch.xml

DikkleBot

Our crawler identifies itself as DikkleBot. It follows robots.txt (including Crawl-delay), asks one page at a time from each site, slows down when a site asks, and honours noindex, nofollow and canonical links. To control it, add rules for User-agent: DikkleBot to your robots.txt, or use Webmaster tools. Questions: [email protected].
